In eastern reflexology, they tend to start from the left foot, while in the western reflexology, they start from the right foot. There are various theories but in eastern reflexology, they think it is good to boost the heart function by starting from the left foot (the heart reflex zones is located on the left foot), and in the western reflexology, they think it is good not to stress the heart. Basically it is okay to start from either foot.
Q. Why do you start from the kidney reflex zone?
It is said that starting from kidney-ureter tube-bladder reflex zones improves the elimination of waste matter better. Father Josef Eugster starts from the pituitary gland because the pituitary gland is an organ to balance the hormones. Basically it is okay to start from any reflex zones.
Q. Why are there crunchy sounds from the feet?
It is said they are from frictions of waste matter (crystal deposits) or muscle fibers.
Q. Will everything be cured by reflexology?
In Japan, reflexology is not a national certification and using words like "cure" is not allowed technically. And also there is no convincing scientific evidence that reflexology is effective for any medical condition. However, from my experience I think it is true that the feet (or hands) are corresponding to the body organs/systems.
